Linda Joy, Willow, Alaska Linda Joy was born in Pennsylvania on August 5, 1953 and raised in Key West, Florida. She raised her family of two children, Christopher, now 23 and Jodie, now 21, in Minnesota. Linda came to Alaska in 1992 with a plan to run the Iditarod in 1996. She began mushing when she worked for an organization that does outside activities with the physically challenged. Dog mushing was the first activity in which she participated with "Wilderness Inquiry’s." During the 1995 race, Linda volunteered at a checkpoint on the trail so that she could see first hand what is involved in running the Iditarod. In 1995 she finished the Knik 200, the Klondike 300 and the Tug Bar 120. She is kennel manager for Susitna Dog Tours Bread & Breakfast. Besides her two grown children, Linda has a year old granddaughter.
