Route Island Drive to intersect with 16th Avenue.
How did the street get to be called Creekside Parkway. She had suggested Martin Luther King Parkway or Peratrovich Parkway? She understands the developer made the name. It conflicts with the Creekside Street near the project. She feels the people have not had input on the plans for the area. I noted the project has had a representative at the CC meetings for the past two years and the notices for the roadway project were mailed out as noted at the NECC meeting this last week.Since the project is getting federal state or local funding the people need to be involved in the decision making. She said we would be at the meeting set up for June 2. I noted that Bill Coghill had heard the city said they or we were not going to attend that meeting. She is talking with Mr. Green (NECC president) about that issue. She felt the extension of 16th Avenue to the east did not come out of the public meeting. I noted I was at the public meeting and heard the request to complete the missing finished section east of the intersection improvements on 16th Avenue.
I am commenting on the Phase I Design of the Creekside Road Improvements as presented at the NECC on March 20th. I have been involved with this project, as Chair of the Muldoon Road Beautification Committee, for many years. The committee has stressed lots of "green" on this project and I would like to reiterate the desire for quality, attractive landscaping to include large trees and abundant shrubs that are hearty and will endure. Muldoon Road has a lot of cement, signs and wires. We are trying to change the look of the area and adding large, healthy trees and shrubs will greatly enhance our streets, improve air quality and help us attain an attractive, livable community I've made my plea and appreciate the opportunity to comment. I hope to see you at our Community Council meetings again to keep us current on the project.
Please design and construct this part of 16th Avenue so it can safely andexpeditiously handle the traffic to and from Chester Valley subdivision (west of Muldoon), Foothills Estate and Brink subdivisions (east of Muldoon). This will need coordination with the other Muldoon Road projects(safety and beautification).Rather than putting traffic control lights at Muldoon and 20th coming from the west and at Parkway Drive coming from the east put one at 16th. Allow only right turns at 20th and only right turns at Parkway.Use green arrows at Muldoon and 16th for left turns.East of Muldoon build up 16th with curb and gutters to meet and match the existing street further east towards State Street.West of Muldoon design and construct 16th to accommodate traffic from both Creekside Town Center and Chester Valley subdivision. Rather than the current access to Muldoon via Island Drive use 16th. Establish a good route from Chester Valley across Creekside Town Center to 16th Avenue. The first time I proposed this the property east of the east end of Muldoon Court and Island Drive was for sale. That probably is too close to Muldoon Road to bring in all of Chester Valley traffic to 16th!I'm looking forward to progress during this coming construction season.
Narrowing Muldoon Lane widths from 12' to 11' further aggravates our problem with asphalt rutting. If you do not understand this I can explain it to you.
